The Local Eyes Guides

Not your ordinary travel guide
Although our travel guides contain all the information a traveler needs, they focus on what will provide a colourful, unexpected and authentic experience. Apart from background information on tourism sites, you will find descriptions of accommodations and restaurants that go beyond the usual and provide a special experience. You will also find information on ecotourism, such as the impacts of tourism on the environment and local culture, as well as sustainable development issues. Stories and interviews tell about strange encounters, interesting people and local habits. All this will enable you to make the most of your stay.

A Local Eyes Guide consists of three parts. The first deals with background information of a country, such as its basic facts, history, culture, nature and wildlife, food and drink, and way of life. The second part consists of chapters that describe the parts of a country, including historic and national sights, museums, (national) parks, and other things to see and do. At the end of each chapter are listings of recommended activities, bars and clubs, accommodations, restaurants, and shops. The last part provides practical information, including transportation, activities, health, money and budget information, language tools, and appendices including a calendar of national holidays, festivals, and other events, and a packlist.

What you won't find...
As the guides are targeted to tourists looking for special experiences, there are some things that you won't find in our guides. This includes mainly information on business services, international touroperators and ticket services, non-descript restaurants and (international) hotel chains, facilities for disabled travelers, and gay and lesbian tourism.

Independent
The Local Eyes Guides Guides are independent and never sponsored by third parties. The Guides do not contain advertisements or commercial content.

Frequent updates
As the guides will be laser-printed instead of pressed, we can frequently update the contents of the guides. When you order a guide directly at the publisher, their local office will print your personal copy and send it to you within three working days. Please note that the guides are not available at the moment, but will be available in bookstores and resellers (such as Amazon.com) soon. Ordering at the source is the fastest way to get your copy delivered at home, and will be available soon as well.

The team
The writers and editors of the guides are all well-traveled and experienced in tourism. They know their way around many countries, tourism products and cultures. Their knowledge of tourism development, local culture and the audience is our greatest asset. The staff also includes instructors in winter sports, diving and various outdoor sports, ensuring that the guides provide relevant information and we keep track of new developments.

Local help
Naturally
we can't do without our local counterparts, who provide inside information, check facts and show us those little gems that are the guides' greatest asset. Furthermore we need the input from fellow travelers, whose input provides us leads and new ideas to continually improve our products. Finally, we use input from travelers, locals, field experts, local newspapers, etc. to make sure the guides are up-to-date and provide relevant and high-quality information.
