Keep the receipts of any expensive items you buy. In- and outbound customs officials might ask for proof of purchase. Also make sure your souvenirs are allowed to be ex- and imported. Buy from official sources to avoid fakes, or, even worse, walk off with a piece of national heritage.

Make a mental note about how much a foreign banknote is worth in your own currency. It will help you not to spend too much money.

Keep small currency and your bills separate. This way you do not have to flash your cash any time you want to buy something small.

Make sure you won’t find yourself broke and stranded! Take sufficient spare money, just in case. Internet banking can also be handy to access your savings, if needed.
